The Fresno Fair

I received first place at the Fresno Fair for one of my all time favorite shots, Burnt Manzanita. I took this images last summer while vacationing at my families cabin in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range. I was drawn to the subject because of its simplicity. Ten years ago there was a wild fire "The Big Creek Fire" that almost destroyed a town. There is so much manzanita in the area living and dead. When it is alive it is a vibrant burnt red but dead it is a ghostly white. This piece of burnt manzanita sits on the side of the road between the little town of Big Creek and Huntington Lake. Khalid's wonderful shot of the meadow that is also in the Sierra Nevadas sits below the dam of Florence Lake. He received an honorable mention for it at the Fresno Fair. We are both so pleased to be apart of this years fair. To View more of our images from the Sierras please visit my store.
